Today, S. and I decided to begin the process of telling about the pregnancy. She got back from the doctor and they confirmed what we knew: she’s pregnant. We know that there’s a relatively high risk of miscarriage, especially with first time getting pregnant. So we decided we’d tell the following
- S’s parents and sister
- My aunt+uncle+cousins
- her BFF living in Phoenix
- my BFF living in Birmingham
We wanted to let these people know so that they could pray for us as well as be there in case something happens.
It was pretty “as expected”. We drove half-way on Friday to tell S.’s parents. They flipped. They have been not-so-silently hoping for a grandchild since we got married.
The funny part was the yesterday when we drove to Alabama to tell my family. I was in my aunt’s gift shop. I was asking her about a baptismal gown, citing that we might be needing it come December. She caught on, instantly. My cousins–not so much. When my aunt stopped screaming, she turnned to the oldest and asked, “J., do you know what this means?” Blankly, she replied, “D & S are becoming Episcopalian?” Nothing gets past her.
